So Ugly

It occurred to me, a month and a half after posting these pictures, that I have not explained the history of the ugly. Most will know this story.... but it's fun to repeat anyways.

Sharon's 20th birthday present was a harem of girls. *insert bizarre looks* Serena wanted to make him 2o girl cookies. I thought it was a great idea, and offered up my kitchen as the baking ground so that I could get in on the action.

What a humorous disaster!

First, because my oven had a mysterious warm spot that was not yet found, the cookies burned slightly on the bottom... in sooner baking time than what was called for in the recipe.

Second, I had no piping bag... or sandwich bags... so, naturally, waxed paper was used as the weapon of ugliness.

Then as we set in to make the different colours to uglify our girls, the consistency and thickness of our icing seemed to be working against us. As we attempted to give each girl a different personality, it quickly became evident that my lack of skill in icing preparation was sabotaging this undertaking. The icing ran towards where it was not supposed to. The melted chocolate did not want to co-operate, thus creating a uni-brow. But, it did co-operate with me when I decided to make these girls more like the ones that turn Sharon's head. I added highlights.

In the midst of this late night giggle fest, the waxed paper began to unravel, adding to the mess. The giggles increased to silent tear filled laughter.

The next day, when Serena came to box up the ugly wonders, the camera came out. We continued to giggle through or disgusted faces, and didn't stop until well after each girl was named and had an appropriate one liner associated with her name and appearance.

I took it just a bit further by creating a fictitious company to go along with the best disaster I ever had the privilege to be a part of....
